\u00c0 cette \u00e9poque-l\u00e0, on travaillait tous les deux dans la r\u00e9gie \u00e0 Sportsnet. Une des bonnes amies de St\u00e9phane allait se marier et elle avait organis\u00e9 un mariage destination. Elle avait invit\u00e9 des coll\u00e8gues de travail, y compris St\u00e9phane.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s avoir accept\u00e9 l\u2019invitation, St\u00e9phane s\u2019est demand\u00e9 qui pourrait l\u2019accompagner. Il se disait qu\u2019il devrait peut-\u00eatre simplement partager une chambre avec un autre c\u00e9libataire du groupe de Sportsnet. Mais partager une chambre avec un coll\u00e8gue serait rarement le premier choix, peu importe le voyage, et encore moins pour des vacances.<\/p>\n

(En passant, le coll\u00e8gue de travail auquel il avait pens\u00e9 a fini par rencontrer quelqu\u2019un pendant le voyage et ils sont aujourd\u2019hui mari\u00e9s avec des enfants).<\/p>\n

Alors\u2026 St\u00e9phane m\u2019a demand\u00e9 de l\u2019accompagner. Nous \u00e9tions des amis. On ne sortait pas ensemble (pas encore). M\u00eame au travail, nous n\u2019\u00e9tions pas vus comme des amis. On ne voulait pas d\u00e9clencher la machine \u00e0 rumeurs chez Sportsnet sur ces deux gars qui tra\u00eenaient ensemble.<\/p>\n

Alors c\u2019\u00e9tait \u00e9norme que St\u00e9phane m\u2019ait demand\u00e9 de l\u2019accompagner au mariage. Les choses allaient \u00e9voluer au travail. Tout le monde saurait qu\u2019on \u00e9tait amis.<\/p>\n

On a donc r\u00e9serv\u00e9 une chambre plus spacieuse et plus priv\u00e9e. On tenait \u00e0 ce que notre relation, peu importe ce qu\u2019elle \u00e9tait, ne soit pas publique, surtout avec les coll\u00e8gues de travail.<\/p>\n

Tout cela avait \u00e9t\u00e9 planifi\u00e9 des mois auparavant. Les choses changeraient rapidement et radicalement avant le d\u00e9part.<\/p>\n

He accepted, but was struggling a bit with who to take with him. Should he just split a room with one of the other singles from the Sportsnet group?\u00a0\u00a0Not really what you want to do on any trip, much less a vacation trip - split a room with a work colleague.<\/p>

Side note: good thing he didn\u2019t. That work college he would\u2019ve roomed with found someone on that trip, and they\u2019re now married with kids.<\/p>

So\u2026 he asked me.\u00a0\u00a0We were friends.\u00a0\u00a0Not dating (yet). We weren\u2019t really out at work as friends even. Didn\u2019t want the rumour mill swirling about what was up with the 2 gays at the network hanging out.<\/p>

So it was a huge thing for St\u00e9phane to ask if I could come as his plus one. The tides shifted at work a bit. People would know we were friends.<\/p>

We booked an upgraded room. One where we\u2019d have more privacy. We were determined to keeping our relationship, whatever it was, to ourselves for now, especially with work colleagues.<\/p>

This was all planned months ahead of time... things would change quickly and drastically before the trip actually happened.<\/p>
