C\u2019est une histoire bien typique. Le propri\u00e9taire ayant d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de reprendre son condo pour loger sa fille, St\u00e9phane avait re\u00e7u sa notice comme quoi il devait quitter son 1 \u00bd dans le quartier de Cabbagetown \u00e0 Toronto.<\/p>\n

Entre-temps, il s\u2019\u00e9tait trouv\u00e9 un nouvel appartement dans le b\u00e2timent Verve Condo & Lofts qui \u00e9tait, \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque-l\u00e0, un endroit populaire pr\u00e8s des rues Church et Wellesley dans le Village, avec une piscine sur le toit et une communaut\u00e9 de r\u00e9sidents LGBTQ+ dynamique.<\/p>\n

Il \u00e9tait jeune et ses parents \u00e9taient l\u00e0 avec lui pour l\u2019aider \u00e0 s\u2019installer. Ce jour-l\u00e0, ils revenaient du resto et remontaient ensemble dans l\u2019ascenseur.<\/p>\n

Par hasard, j\u2019\u00e9tais moi aussi dans cet ascenseur, revenant de je ne sais pas trop o\u00f9. J\u2019ai remarqu\u00e9 St\u00e9phane \u2026 quelqu\u2019un que je n\u2019avais pas vu avant, quelqu\u2019un qui attirait mon attention. Je me souviens d\u2019avoir pens\u00e9 que j\u2019aimerais le revoir plus souvent.<\/p>\n

Quelques heures plus tard, Fran\u00e7ois et Margie revenaient de l\u2019\u00e9picerie. Ils \u00e9taient all\u00e9s chercher quelque chose \u00e0 manger pour leur fils qui s\u2019appr\u00eatait \u00e0 commencer sa vie dans son nouveau logement. Encore par hasard, je me trouvais encore moi aussi dans le m\u00eame ascenseur.<\/p>\n

J\u2019ai fait un brin de conversation avec eux : \u00ab On vous a envoy\u00e9s faire l\u2019\u00e9picerie, hein? \u00bb. \u00ab Oui, notre fils vient juste d\u2019emm\u00e9nager et on l\u2019aide \u00e0 s\u2019installer \u00bb.<\/p>\n

J\u2019ai parl\u00e9 avec mes futurs beaux-parents avant m\u00eame d\u2019avoir parl\u00e9 une seule fois avec St\u00e9phane. He found a new unit at Verve Condos & Lofts, at the time a very popular building near the Church and Wellesley Village with a rooftop pool and a vibrant LGBTQ+ community.<\/p>

He was young, and his parents were right there to help him get settled in. They\u2019d just gone out for lunch and were making their way back up the elevator together.<\/p>

I happened to also be in that elevator, making my way back from somewhere. I caught sight of St\u00e9phane\u2026 someone I hadn\u2019t seen before, someone who caught my attention. I remember hoping I\u2019d see him around more often.<\/p>

A few hours later, Fran\u00e7ois and Margie were just headed back from a grocery trip. They\u2019d gone out to get some supplies to get their son all set to start life in his new home. By happenstance, I was in that elevator too.<\/p>

A little small talk. \u201cYou got tasked with doing the grocery run huh?\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u201cYeah our son just moved in so we\u2019re helping him get settled in\u201d.<\/p>

I talked with my future parents in law before ever striking up a conversation with St\u00e9phane. That wouldn\u2019t happen for quite some time.
