Pour dire vrai, j\u2019avais une id\u00e9e de ce qui allait se passer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

C\u2019est en janvier qu\u2019on avait d\u2019abord planifi\u00e9 un voyage \u00e0 Whistler en Colombie-Britannique. Une sortie pour acheter nos bagues de fian\u00e7ailles peu avant le voyage a \u00e9t\u00e9 un premier indice.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Autre indice : le d\u00e9sespoir de r\u00e9aliser ces plans de voyage tel que pr\u00e9vus.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lorsqu\u2019on on a finalement appris qu\u2019il faudrait remettre le voyage \u00e0 cause du variant Omicron , l\u2019urgence de trouver une nouvelle date de r\u00e9servation a \u00e9t\u00e9 un autre signe.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Avant le voyage, je m\u2019\u00e9tais fait dire qu\u2019il y aurait une s\u00e9ance de photographie, ce qui est plut\u00f4t normal pour nous en voyage. Mais, curieusement, j\u2019ai appris qu\u2019il me faudrait un nouveau manteau pour cette s\u00e9ance. Voil\u00e0 un autre signal.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Le jour de la s\u00e9ance de photos avait \u00e9t\u00e9 report\u00e9 encore une fois au 19 mars 2022 (il avait \u00e9t\u00e9 remis une premi\u00e8re fois en raison du mauvais temps).<\/p>\n

St\u00e9phane a fait tout ce qu\u2019il pouvait pour garder l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ment de surprise, en insistant m\u00eame sur le tr\u00e9pied qu\u2019il ne faudrait pas oublier d\u2019apporter.\u00a0<\/p>\n

J\u2019avais l\u2019impression que ce serait enfin le grand jour.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jusqu\u2019au moment o\u00f9 on est arriv\u00e9s sur les lieux. C\u2019est l\u00e0 que St\u00e9phane m\u2019a annonc\u00e9 qu\u2019il avait retenu les services d\u2019une photographe professionnelle. J\u2019ai alors su avec certitude que le moment de poser la question \u00e9tait arriv\u00e9.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Nous \u00e9tions au Nicklaus Golf Course \u00e0 Whistler. L\u2019endroit lui avait \u00e9t\u00e9 sugg\u00e9r\u00e9 par Angie Gallant<\/a>une photographe locale qu\u2019il avait rep\u00e9r\u00e9e et dont il avait retenu les services pour l\u2019occasion.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Elle avait trouv\u00e9 l\u2019endroit parfait pour prendre de superbes photos. Le curieux blizzard s\u2019\u00e9tait \u00e9clairci et le soleil est apparu au moment o\u00f9 nous arrivions sur le site. Voil\u00e0 un autre signe qui confirmaitr notre vie \u00e0 deux et le destin qui nous avait r\u00e9unis.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On a suivi Angie le long d\u2019un chemin bord\u00e9 d\u2019arbres jusqu\u2019au lac Green. Sa surface \u00e9tait gel\u00e9e, ce joiur-l\u00e0, alors que, durant les mois d\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9, sous les rayons du soleil, ses eaux \u00e9taient \u00e9meraude, ce qui expliquait son nom.<\/p>\n

En chemin, cet apr\u00e8s-midi-l\u00e0, nous avons aper\u00e7u une femme qui promenait ses chiens au bord du lac. Des chiens vraiment gentils qui pr\u00e9sageaient la sc\u00e8ne o\u00f9 nous poserions avec eux, nous les amateurs de chiens.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 prendre quelques photos. On \u00e9tait dans l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re. Il \u00e9tait 15h15, heure du Pacifique. La photographe s\u2019est \u00e9loign\u00e9e pour installer une lentille plus longue sur son appareil-photo.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Je vais prendre quelques photos plus spontan\u00e9es. Vous pourriez juste jaser entre vous \u00bb. C\u2019\u00e9tait apparemment le signal pour St\u00e9phane.<\/p>\n

On savait qu\u2019on allait se fiancer. On y avait beaucoup pens\u00e9 tous les deux. Nous avions tous les deux une id\u00e9e de ce que nous allions dire, le moment venu. Malheureusement, ces mots nous ont \u00e9chapp\u00e9 ce jour-l\u00e0. St\u00e9phane a essay\u00e9 de dire quelques mots sur combien il tenait \u00e0 moi. Il voulait vivre avec moi pour le reste de ses jours. Des mots que nous avions \u00e9chang\u00e9s bien des fois avant aujourd\u2019hui.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mais les mots exacts se sont perdus dans l\u2019intensit\u00e9 du moment. D\u00e9j\u00e0 tout oubli\u00e9s. L\u2019\u00e9motion avait pris le dessus.\u00a0<\/p>\n

De beaux nuages ponctuaient le ciel bleu et on apercevait les monts Fitzsimmons si majestueux dans cette ville de Whistler qui nous entourait. Les seuls mots qui comptaient \u00e0 cet instant-l\u00e0, alors qu\u2019il s\u2019agenouillait : \u00ab Veux-tu m\u2019\u00e9pouser \u00bb, suivis promptement par mon \u00ab OUI \u00bb. Il a gliss\u00e9 la bague que nous avions achet\u00e9e ensemble sur mon doigt. J\u2019ai fait le m\u00eame geste pour lui. On a scell\u00e9 ce moment en se tenant dans les bras et en s\u2019embrassant.<\/p>\n

C\u2019\u00e9tait mon conte de f\u00e9e, mieux et plus merveilleux encore que j\u2019avais pu me l\u2019imaginer, qui \u00e9tait devenu la r\u00e9alit\u00e9.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On a continu\u00e9 \u00e0 prendre beaucoup de photos, en montrant les bagues autour de nos doigts. Des photos o\u00f9 on s\u2019enla\u00e7ait. D\u2019autres o\u00f9 on s\u2019embrassait. D\u2019autres o\u00f9 on se regardait simplement dans les yeux. C\u2019\u00e9tait facile \u00e0 saisir puisque notre amour \u00e9tait si r\u00e9el.\u00a0<\/p>\n

En chemin vers le stationnement, les m\u00eames chiots se sont approch\u00e9s de nous pour nous f\u00e9liciter.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pour le souper, St\u00e9phane avait fait une r\u00e9servation pour nous au restaurant Table 19 au club de golf. Mais nous avions encore une heure \u00e0 attendre. Nous nous sommes rendus \u00e0 la base 2 du Centre de ski de Whistler pour faire l\u2019appel vid\u00e9o avec mes parents devant un bel arri\u00e8re-plan (ma m\u00e8re a pouss\u00e9 un cri et fait des pas de danse sur le plancher du patio derri\u00e8re leur maison o\u00f9 ils se trouvaient quand on les avait appel\u00e9s). Puis ensuite les parents de St\u00e9phane (tous les deux tr\u00e8s heureux pour nous deux, Fran\u00e7ois disant que, m\u00eame si j\u2019\u00e9tais d\u00e9j\u00e0 membre de leur famille, ce serait maintenant officiel). Enfin, un appel \u00e0 Marie-France, la s\u0153ur de St\u00e9phane, et son conjoint Alex, pour les mettre dans le coup eux aussi.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Avant d\u2019aller souper, nous avons aussi annonc\u00e9 la nouvelle par textos \u00e0 nos amis les plus proches. Le reste de la plan\u00e8te apprendrait la nouvelle quand nous aurions re\u00e7u les premi\u00e8res photos le lendemain.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Un d\u00e9licieux plat de charcuterie nous attendait (nous avons tout mang\u00e9, sauf les olives), suivi d\u2019une assiette de porc enrob\u00e9 de bacon qui d\u00e9passait tout ce qu\u2019on avait connu avant.<\/p>\n

Notre table pour deux personnes faisait face, pour l\u2019un d\u2019entre nous, \u00e0 des puits de lumi\u00e8re par lesquels on apercevait le lac et les montagnes. Pour l\u2019autre, qui \u00e9tait face au mur, on pouvait voir de merveilleuses \u0153uvres d\u2019art (sur lesquelles nous avons cherch\u00e9 l\u2019information et qui \u00e9taient bien trop ch\u00e8res pour nous). Nous avons partag\u00e9 cette exp\u00e9rience visuelle en changeant de place entre les entr\u00e9es et les plats principaux.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Et c\u2019est comme \u00e7a que nous sommes aujourd\u2019hui fianc\u00e9s.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Et moi, l\u2019homme le plus chanceux de la terre, je ne peux pas m\u2019imaginer plus heureux.<\/p> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \t <\/div>\n\t \n\t<\/div>\n\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t

Now in fairness, I did have an inkling of what was going on.\u00a0<\/p>

Our trip to Whistler was originally planned back in January. The timing of our ring shopping excursion in relation to that trip was a clue.\u00a0<\/p>

The desperation to make that trip happen as scheduled was a clue.\u00a0<\/p>

When it was finally official that it needed to be postponed due to the Omicron variant, the urgency to rebook it as soon as possible was a clue.\u00a0<\/p>

Prior to this trip, I was informed that we\u2019d be having a photoshoot here. Very typical for us to do on a trip. But apparently, I needed to get a new coat for the photo shoot. That was a clue.\u00a0<\/p>

March 19, 2022, was to be the rescheduled photo day (weather delayed it from its initially rescheduled date).<\/p>

St\u00e9phane did everything he could to make it a surprise. Right down to making sure we remembered to bring our tripod we use for these photoshoots along.\u00a0<\/p>

I had a feeling this might finally be the moment.\u00a0<\/p>

Until we got to the location. Then he broke the news, he had booked a professional photographer. And then I knew for sure. The question was being popped today.\u00a0<\/p>

We were at Nicklaus Golf Course in Whistler. A location suggested to him by Angie Gallant<\/a>, a local photographer he had researched and booked for the occasion.\u00a0<\/p>

She had just the spots for us to get amazing photos. The random blizzard cleared, and the sun came out just as we arrived. Yet another sign in our journey together that this was all meant to be.\u00a0<\/p>

She took us back along a treed path that lead to Green Lake. Frozen over this day, but apparently during the summer when the sun hits it, it glows emerald green, hence the name.<\/p>

Along the way, a lady and her son were out with their dogs for an afternoon by the lake. Super sweet dogs, just setting the scene for us dog lovers to have them there with us.\u00a0<\/p>

We take a few photos. Get into the jive of things. Then around 3:15 PDT she backs away a bit and puts a longer lens on her camera.<\/p>

\u201cI\u2019m going to take a few candids now, you guys just talk with each other.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0This was apparently the prearranged cue for St\u00e9phane.<\/p>

We knew we were getting engaged. We had both thought about this a lot. Both had words planned out we wanted to say when the moment happened. Those words were lost for both of us. He stumbled through a few words of how much I meant to him. How he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. Words we\u2019ve both shared many times before now.\u00a0<\/p>

The exact words used are lost to the moment. Forgotten already. Emotion overtaking.\u00a0<\/p>

Beautiful cloud dotted blue skies the backdrop to the majestic Fitzsimmons Mountain Range that is the home of Whistler surrounding us, the only words from the moment that really mattered\u2026 as he dropped to one knee, \u201cWill you marry me?\u201d\u2026 promptly followed by my \u201cYES\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0He slipped the ring that we\u2019d bought together onto my finger. I then slipped his onto his finger. We then sealed with a hug and a kiss.<\/p>

My fairy tale, better and more amazing than could be imagined, now real life.\u00a0<\/p>

We then proceeded to shoot many more photos, with rings now adorning our fingers. Photos hugging. Photos kissing. Photos just looking into each other\u2019s eyes. All very easy to capture as our love for each other is so real.\u00a0<\/p>

As we headed back to the parking lot, we pass by the same puppies who came up to wish us congratulations.\u00a0<\/p>

St\u00e9phane had booked us reservations for dinner at Table 19, the restaurant at the golf club clubhouse, but they weren\u2019t for another hour, so we drove to Base 2 of Whistler Ski Resort to get a background for the FaceTime calls to my parents (my mom screamed and did a happy dance right there in their back porch where they happened to be when they got the call), then with St\u00e9phane\u2019s parents (both extremely happy for us, Fran\u00e7ois reiterating that while I was already part of the family, it was more official now), and then a call to St\u00e9phane\u2019s sister Marie-France an brother-in-law Alex, to loop them in as well.\u00a0<\/p>

We shared the news with a few immediate circle friends by text message before heading into our dinner reservations. The rest of the world will learn once we receive the preview photos from the photographer tomorrow.\u00a0<\/p>

We headed in for a delicious charcuterie board (we ate it all but the olives), followed by a plate of some of the most delicious bacon wrapped pork loin we\u2019ve ever enjoyed.<\/p>

The table for 2 that we got had one of us face out through the floor to slanted ceiling windows overlooking the lake and mountains. The other facing in towards the wall, which in fairness had some amazing art on the wall (which we looked up and decided was way too expensive for us). So we could both get the full experience we traded sides of the table between the appetizer and main course.\u00a0<\/p>

And with that\u2026 we are now fianc\u00e9es.\u00a0<\/p>

And I, the luckiest man on earth. I could not be happier.<\/p>\n
